I'm pretty sure Crimson/corruption needs to be a certain distance from housing. Best bet is to usually build up if its gotten that bad. Use either regular wood (or pearlwood if you have no option), build straight up about 50-75 blocks (if you use something can be corrupted, remove it immediately to prevent spread), then build new housing.
